We invite the new children into school for three play sessions in June, typically from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. on a Friday afternoon, where they can play together and get to know their new friends. Parents can stay with their child and it gives them the opportunity to talk to and ask questions of the Class 1 staff. On the third session, we suggest that parents retreat and have a cup of tea in the staffroom, so that they can feel confident that their child is happy without them. We also invite the children into school in July, to spend a morning in the class with their future classmates in Year 1 and Year 2. Additionally, new children are invited to Sports Day and any other school summer events. Mrs.Davies holds an evening meeting for parents in July, to explain the school and class routines and expectations, and to answer any questions.
